Need for supporting people with disabilities People with disabilities are a deprived community. 10% of the world population is estimated to be affected with disabilities (Mental disabilities, addictions, retirement and old age disabilities are not accounted). There are many good initiatives from the United Nations, Governments, NGOs and private sector in mainstreaming these communities. However, a sustainable and competent system that supports the mainstreaming of this deprived community is still nonexistent.
